Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions answered about our IELTS training, course structure, and exam preparation.

What is the difference between IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training?

The IELTS Academic test is designed for individuals applying for higher education or professional registration in English-speaking environments. It focuses on assessing your readiness to understand and use complex academic language.
On the other hand, the IELTS General Training test is intended for those seeking to migrate, work, or undertake non-academic training in an English-speaking country. The test focuses on everyday language skills in social and workplace contexts.

Do I need to take all four sections (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) on the same day?

Typically, the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are completed on the same day, while the Speaking test may be scheduled on a different day. however, at English By Towfique, we offer flexible IELTS preparation classes to accommodate your schedule and ensure you are fully prepared for each module. This approach allows you to master each section at a comfortable pace while balancing your other commitments.

Can I take the IELTS mock tests more than once if I don’t feel ready for the real exam?

As part of the course, students are allowed to sit for three mock tests after completing the full course. These mock tests simulate the real IELTS exam and help assess your readiness under exam conditions. If you wish to take additional mock tests beyond the three included, you may do so by paying a separate fee for each extra test.

Class tests, on the other hand, are regularly conducted during the course to monitor your progress. If you perform poorly on a class test, you may request to retake it once. However, this does not apply to mock tests, as mock tests are designed for final exam preparation.

How often do the IELTS classes take place?

Our IELTS classes are held twice a week. We recommend scheduling classes on Saturday mornings and either Sunday or Monday evenings, depending on your availability. Each class lasts for 2 hours.

How long does it take to prepare for the IELTS exam?

Our FULL course consists of 15 classes, each lasting 2 hours. While individual preparation times may vary, we recommend committing to at least 6-8 weeks of study, depending on your current level of proficiency and target score.

Do I need to bring any materials to class?

We will provide most materials needed for the course, including practice tests and handouts. However, we recommend bringing a notebook, writing utensils, and a positive attitude to make the most out of your learning experience.

How will my progress be assessed throughout the course?

Your progress will be monitored through class tests, in-class participation, and individual assignments. We will provide feedback and additional support based on your performance to help you reach your target score.

Should I register for the mock test (original) before joining the course, or should I complete the classes first?

We recommend completing the IELTS preparation course before registering for the mock test. The course provides essential skills, strategies, and practice opportunities that will help you perform better in the mock test. By building a solid foundation during the classes, you’ll gain the confidence and knowledge needed to assess your readiness for the actual IELTS exam accurately.
